This video explores how FSC is piloting new approaches to recognize non-forest bio-based waste materials within FSC-certified products, when they are certified under approved sustainability schemes. By enabling these materials to be included on equal footing with FSC-certified forest materials, FSC aims to expand circular options while maintaining strong assurance, traceability, and transparency across supply chains. The initiative is being developed jointly by FSC and the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), with support from the ISEAL Alliance Innovation Fund, funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
