A healthy Cook Inlet for belugas and people
For #WorldWaterDay, we're heading back to Alaska to learn why better understanding water quality is crucial to the survival of the critically endangered Cook Inlet beluga whale.
Water quality isn't just important for saving the whales, though - the people of Cook Inlet are known for everything from salmon fishing to surfing the famous bore tide. The Alaskan and federal governments must support water quality research for the sake of all life in the Inlet.
Pollution isn't the only threat to Cook Inlet belugas, but it contributes to many of the other issues they face. Learn how the decline in water quality is impacting belugas - and what we recommend to clean up this critical waterway: https://www.savecookinletbelugas.org/threats
