A Decade of Partnership: ASEAN and Germany for Maritime Security

Around one-third of global trade passes through the Indo-Pacific, making secure sea lanes essential for global trade, energy supply, and food security. With around 1/5 of Germany’s trade linked to the Indo-Pacific, both sides share a strong interest in keeping sea lanes safe, secure, and open. Safe and open maritime routes are vital for economies, communities, and supply chains around the world. As ASEAN and Germany celebrate 10 years of their partnership, cooperation continues to grow in support of maritime security, regional stability, and a rules-based international order. Here’s to a decade of partnership and many more years of collaboration ahead.
