Regional Action for Sustainable Cities

ASEAN cities face growing solid waste challenges driven by rapid urbanisation, rising consumption, and expanding tourism. Addressing these complex issues requires strong collaboration, shared learning, and coordinated regional action. This video showcases regional waste management initiatives that bring together ASEAN Member States to strengthen solid waste management in tourism cities across the region. Through cross-sectoral policy dialogue, capacity development, regional exchanges, and knowledge sharing, Germany—through the GIZ ASEAN Municipal Solid Waste Management (AMUSE) project—has strengthened cooperation between the environment and tourism sectors, empowered more than 2,500 stakeholders through training, and contributed to key regional priorities, including environmental education and greener, more sustainable cities. #wastemanagement #gizworks #asean
