Israeli settlers “resorted to sexual violence to instill fear & humiliate Palestinians” | UN report

The Chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Mr. Srinivasan Muralidhar, speaking at the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council on 15 June 2026, warned that settlers have “increasingly resorted to sexual violence to instill fear and humiliate Palestinians” in order to pressure communities to leave their land. He noted that since 2023, the Commission has verified “the rape of a Palestinian man and two cases of attempted rape,” adding that settlers have “consistently intimidated and harassed Palestinian women and girls, constraining their daily life.” Mr. Muralidhar emphasized that “violence against women and children contribute to the forcible displacement of Palestinian communities,” describing the targeting of these groups as “an instrumental factor in pushing Palestinian families and communities to leave their homes.” Read their new report: https://www.un.org/unispal/document/report-commission-of-inquiry-opt-israel-a-hrc-62-22/
