A Farmer’s Path to Sustainable Income in Cambodia

Meet Chhoeun Sokny, a vegetable farmer and member of the Kasekor Prey Vihear Agricultural Cooperative in Tuol Prech Village, Kong Pisey District, Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. Like many smallholder farmers, Sokny once faced significant challenges due to limited farming knowledge and unstable income. Through training and support from Heifer and the cooperative, she learned improved farming techniques and proper crop management. Today, Sokny harvests vegetables every week. Her cherry tomatoes are harvested twice weekly, producing around 100 kilograms per harvest, and sometimes even more. This consistent production has helped her secure a stable income. With improved earnings, Sokny can now save for her family and support her child’s education in Phnom Penh—a powerful example of how knowledge, partnership, and opportunity can transform lives. #VegetableFarming #ClimateSmartAgriculture #WomenInAgriculture #YouthInAgriculture
