Video Series | Tonle Sap at a Turning Point (Part 2/3): From Dialogue to Action

Following our first video exploring the environmental and climate-related challenges facing the Tonle Sap region, this second installment highlights the collective efforts underway to address them. To support a coordinated and long-term approach for Tonle Sap, the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and partners, convened a coordination workshop in Kampong Thom Province in early May, bringing together government agencies, provincial authorities, development partners, and conservation organizations. The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange updates on ongoing initiatives, identify environmental priorities and gaps, and discuss opportunities for collaboration, resource mobilization, and climate finance to support sustainable development in the Tonle Sap Basin. Discussions also contributed to the ongoing development of the Tonle Sap Sustainable Environment Initiative (TSEI), a proposed long-term programme aimed at revitalizing the ecology and economy of the Tonle Sap Lake and surrounding floodplains. Through stronger partnerships and coordinated action, Cambodia continues advancing efforts to protect Tonle Sap while supporting resilient communities and sustainable development.
