Changing Lives Together: An OPEC Fund Video Series El Salvador: The OPEC Fund contributed USD 70 million to the Surf City Programme Phase II in El Salvador, co-financed with CABEI as part of a USD 149.4 million investment in the coastal department of La Libertad. The program is widening 8.2 kilometers of the Pacific Coast Highway, replacing the Melara Bridge, constructing wastewater treatment facilities serving around 20,000 people, and deploying smart traffic management systems. For the communities living along this stretch of coast, the investments mean safer roads, cleaner water and a share in the economic opportunities that tourism is bringing to the region.
