When culture and health care collide: Mayan youth are here

Many Mayan Indigenous and Afro-descendant adolescents in Mexico face discrimination and barriers when seeking sexual and reproductive health and mental health services. This animated video was co-created with young people as part of an IDRC-supported research project led by the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico. Developed through the “Mayan youth exist” prevention campaign, it highlights the importance of health services that are inclusive, culturally grounded and responsive to young people’s lived realities.
