Gross Domestic Product has long defined whether countries are succeeding — but it leaves out the things people care about most. It doesn't account for inequality. It doesn't measure environmental destruction. And it says nothing about human rights or social wellbeing. A group of economic experts, convened by the United Nations, has produced new recommendations for moving Beyond GDP — redefining how the world measures progress in ways that reflect real lives and shared futures.
