Beyond GDP — Measuring What Actually Matters
Gross Domestic Product has long defined whether countries are succeeding — but it leaves out the things people care about most. It doesn't account for inequality. It doesn't measure environmental destruction. And it says nothing about human rights or social wellbeing.
A group of economic experts, convened by the United Nations, has produced new recommendations for moving Beyond GDP — redefining how the world measures progress in ways that reflect real lives and shared futures.
This work is part of the global effort to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals and build economies that are just, inclusive and sustainable for generations to come.
