Poltava Takes Another Step Towards Barrier-Free Accessibility

Poltava is one the first pilot communities that are participating in “Movement Without Barriers” – a flagship initiative of Ukraine’s Ministry for the Development of Communities and Territories. The city is currently working on the development of barrier-free routes designed to connect hospitals, public institutions, transport infrastructure, and public spaces in a single, accessible urban system. One of these routes, “Gateway to the City” was developed during the Barrier-Free Routes School 2025, which was implemented by UNDP and the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories. The route covers a strategically important area of the city, including Kyiv Railway Station, the surrounding square, public transport stops, and pedestrian connections. UNDP in Ukraine supports the development of barrier-free solutions in communities with financial backing from the Government of Japan. Video: Svoye Kino / UNDP in Ukraine
