In this Knowledge Talk, Cecilia Scolaro and Tiago Paes Vilas Boas from Design Reparations share the powerful story behind the Gaza Travel Agency: a speculative design project that took over Dutch Design Week 2025. While most of the world looks at Gaza through the lens of crisis, this project invites us to look through the lens of Return. By transforming a shipping container into a travel agency, the team allowed thousands of visitors to plan trips back to Palestinian villages, using the detailed logistical research of Salman Abu Sita and the framework of international law. Design Reparations is nurturing relationships of understanding, care and reciprocity between designers, innovators, social entrepreneurs and the traditional, indigenous communities around the world, for ecological and just outcomes.
