Scientific Café Episode 33, Dr Sanea Okamoto, senior researcher at United Nations University
Dr. Sanae Okamoto, PhD, is a senior researcher at United Nations University - Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT). She is a psychologist and behavioral scientist with a background in both industry and academia, focusing on multiple objectives such as sustainability, climate resilience, and well-being. She has been actively addressing the mental health impacts of climate change and advocating for the issue at the international level. As co-lead of the EU-funded COST Action network CliMent, she works with the partners to explore how education can build resilience in future generations. She holds a master’s degree in Psychology from Nagoya University, Japan, and a PhD in Psychology from Maastricht University. Her earlier research on social group dynamics was conducted at Kyoto University and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Germany.
