Webinar—Getting Started with Alcohol Taxes: How to Design Good Policy That Saves Lives
As part of our ongoing work to advance fiscal policies that improve health outcomes, this webinar—hosted by Economics for Health at Johns Hopkins University and the RESET Alcohol initiative led by Vital Strategies—launched Principles of Alcohol Taxation, a new policy note outlining six key principles for designing and implementing effective alcohol excise taxes.
Health taxes are among the most effective tools governments have to prevent disease, reduce health inequities, and strengthen public finances. This session translates technical concepts into practical insights for policymakers, advocates, and public health professionals, featuring real-world examples from South Africa, the Philippines, and the Americas region.
