UNDP project lays groundwork for long-term resilience in Kalinago Territory
The Strengthening Community Resilience in the Kalinago Territory (SCR-K) project, implemented by UNDP with funding from the Government of India, held its first Project Steering Committee meeting in January 2026, marking a key milestone for project implementation. The meeting formally established governance and coordination arrangements for the initiative, which focuses on climate-resilient agriculture, forest and watershed restoration, and sustainable ecotourism in the Kalinago Territory.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Government of Dominica, the Kalinago Council, the Government of India, and UNDP, who reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive, community-led development aligned with national resilience and empowerment priorities. With an indicative budget of approximately USD 888,000, the project will move into active implementation in 2026, prioritizing concrete actions and capacity building to deliver lasting livelihoods, strengthened resilience, and long-term sustainable development in the Kalinago Territory.
