As part of marking 25 years of friendship and cooperation between Kosovo and Germany, we are highlighting some of the joint partnerships that are driving positive change across the country.
For many years, municipalities in Kosovo struggled with poor waste services and growing illegal dumpsites. Today, with the support of the German Government and the strong commitment of local institutions, progress has been made.
Municipalities are increasing waste collection coverage, improving fee collection, and reducing illegal dumpsites. These efforts are laying the foundations for a circular economy and a cleaner, more sustainable future for Kosovo.
In this video, Hysen Jerliu, Municipal Waste Management Officer in the Municipality of Kamenica, and Behar Ferizi, CEO of the Regional Waste Management Company “Çabrati” in the Municipality of Gjakova/Đakovica, share how their communities are improving waste management services and how these changes are making a real difference for people and the environment.
