ASI Thought Leaders Forum | Feminist Foreign Policy: Rethinking International Development

What is Feminist Foreign Policy? How does it differ from gender sensitivity (or "from what we already do")? How do we move from policy to practice? What are the opportunities and obstacles? How do we implement change while respecting local norms? Join us for this exciting online event, where we explore the intersection of Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) and international development. This session will delve into the intersection of Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) and international development, bringing together a panel of esteemed experts, including: ➡️ Alice Ridge from the International Women's Development Agency (IWDA); ➡️ Hawo Hassan, ASI’s Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Adviser on our SSNSA project in Somalia; ➡️ Fatimah Afzal, ASI’s Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Adviser on the SEED Pakistan project. ➡️ Sarah Fowler, an experienced gender and social inclusion advisor, moderating the discussion. The panel will unpack what exactly Feminist Foreign Policy is, and dive into real-world challenges and opportunities in implementing FFP in the context of complex environments encountered in international development programming.
