This side event, organised by the EU Civil Society Forum on Drugs, brings together civil society, government representatives and experts to explore what a right to health approach to drug policy looks like in practice—and why it is more urgent than ever. At a time of shrinking funding and increasing shifts towards security-led responses, speakers highlight the importance of sustaining health-oriented policies and ensuring adequate support for services for people who use drugs. The discussion shares lessons from across Europe, showcasing best practices, challenges, and pathways forward to inform global drug policy debates.
