Spaces of Belonging

Leadership today is not just about strategies – it’s about regeneration: ecological, social, and spiritual. Earlier this year, our colleague and Design Lead for Landscape Leadership Labs, Dieter van der Broeck, joined our Latin American partners from @sierragordamexico in Querétaro, Mexico, for the Ecosystemic Leadership Program Latin America, organised by the @presencing Institute. Over five days of deep emergence, more than 300 change agents from across the continent gathered to explore what ecosystem leadership means for their organisations, communities, and personal journeys – while co-inspiring a shared vision of the future and beginning to co-create transformative regional initiatives. As Pedro Perez from @santuariodelmaipo beautifully said: “It’s not just ecological regeneration, but deep, spiritual and inspirational regeneration.” ✨ Following this gathering, a smaller group of around 40 inspired leaders continued with a 3-day deep emergence in the Sierra Gorda region, visiting projects of Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda. These field visits grounded the conversations in lived examples of regeneration and restoration – connecting the inner journey of leadership with tangible, on-the-ground transformation. Many participants reflected on the beauty of pilgrimaging, learning, and sharing in Querétaro, grateful for the ancestral wisdom, biodiversity, and nature that surrounded the group. 🌱 Encounters like these highlight how, in different corners of the world, we are moving in the same direction – cultivating leadership that nurtures both people and planet. For Commonland, it was truly inspiring to meet such a wonderful group with shared mindsets and the drive to regenerate landscapes, communities, and the human spirit. 💚 A heartfelt thank-you to Roberto Pedraza (Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda), Liana Malva (GOTAS), Peter Bahamondes (@fundacionapacheta ), and Coral Herencia (@fundacioncuidemosparaisos) for your inspiring contributions! 👉 Learn more about the Ecosystemic Leadership Program via the Presencing Institute’s website!
