Diversity matters π³π΄ #holistic #sustainability #landscaperestoration
If you only design solutions with the same group of voices, they will collapse when reality changes π€―
π± Just like our bodies need a variety of nutrients, our landscapes and communities need a rich mix of perspectives, skills, and stories to thrive.
In this interview, Dieter Van den Broeck talks about why we need diversity, based on the paper "Spaces of Belonging" written by Commonland in collaboration with Presencing Institute.
ππ½ββοΈ But Dieter goes a step further: he highlights the need for βredundancyβ in the system β the idea of including people and perspectives that may not seem βrelevantβ right now, but whose relevance will become clear in the future. Itβs about designing systems and coalitions that are resilient, adaptive, and ready for whatβs next.
π οΈ In holistic landscape restoration, this translates to inviting youth, elders, farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, policymakers, business, and just about everyone else to shape the future of our landscapes.
π₯ Who are the voices not yet at the table in your landscape?
