The Contribution of Women in the Tindouf Refugee Camps *** إسهام النساء في مخيمات اللاجئين بتندوف
“For nearly 50 years, Sahrawi refugees have been living in five camps near the city of Tindouf, in southwestern Algeria.
Exacerbated by the consequences of climate change and successive crises in global food markets, this population lives in an extremely challenging environment and relies primarily on international humanitarian aid to meet their needs.
This aid is subject to fluctuations, making the intervention of humanitarian actors on the ground even more complicated.
The United Nations and their partners have launched a response plan (2024-2025) for fundraising. This plan aims to improve food security, access to education, clean water, protection, hygiene, and health, while promoting livelihood activities to mitigate the effects of fluctuations in humanitarian aid.
