Despite sustained efforts at EU and national level, the scale and evolving nature of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in the digital environment still challenge law enforcement authorities across EU Member States. Strengthening the capacity of law enforcement officials to detect and identify victims of this heinous crime is of critical importance to ensure operational results. Understanding this need, CEPOL has been organising a flagship training activity on Victim identification in the area of CSE in cooperation with Europol and INTERPOL. During the 2026 edition of this activity, we had the opportunity to interview one of the course’s expert trainers. In this video, our expert explains why training and sharing knowledge across borders are vital for law enforcement professionals to stay ahead of this crime. He also shares with us the challenges that he and his colleagues encounter in their daily work and highlights why cooperation is key for success. To the EU law enforcement officials who have dedicated their lives to keeping children safe, we wish strength, resilience and continued success in their investigations.
