Driving Green Urban Mobility in India

Indo-German Green Urban Mobility Partnership | Sustainable Transport in India Green urban mobility refers to sustainable transport systems and innovative mobility solutions designed to reduce carbon emissions, cut air pollution, and minimise the environmental footprint of cities. By promoting electric vehicles (EVs), sustainable public transport, non-motorised transport, such as cycling and walking, renewable energy integration, and low-carbon mobility solutions, green urban mobility helps build cleaner, climate-resilient, and more liveable cities. Under the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP), India and Germany have launched the Indo-German Green Urban Mobility Partnership to accelerate the transformation of urban transport systems across Indian cities. This bilateral cooperation strengthens climate action, sustainable infrastructure, and people-centric mobility planning while supporting India’s low-carbon development pathway. Through strategic cooperation, technical expertise, and policy dialogue, India and Germany are advancing electric mobility systems, integrated urban mobility planning, sustainable public transport systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure. The partnership contributes to sustainable cities (SDG 11), climate action (SDG 13), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), and innovation in infrastructure (SDG 9), reinforcing the shared commitment to sustainable development.
