Discover how everyday waste can be transformed into a valuable resource. As urban waste continues to grow, sustainable practices like waste segregation, composting, and decentralised wet waste management are more important than ever. Managing waste at its source is something we can all do, for example, by separating kitchen and garden waste. What may seem like a small action can make a real difference in building cleaner, greener cities. To demonstrate the power of composting, we have set up a micro composting centre (MCC) at AEN Colony, Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station. This innovative centre turns segregated household and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost, showing how communities can convert waste into a valuable resource. What makes this initiative truly unique is its creative approach to learning. The MCC features vibrant, alphabet-inspired paintings, where each letter highlights a biodegradable item that can be composted. This fun, visual approach teaches the ABC of composting, engaging children and adults alike while encouraging active participation in waste segregation and community composting.
