Powering Lifesaving Care at Surobi District Hospital

Along the Kabul Jalalabad highway, serious traffic accidents are common, and many emergency cases are rushed to Surobi District Hospital for lifesaving care. To strengthen the hospital’s services, UNDP installed a 100 kW solar power system with 180 kWh battery backup, helping provide reliable and uninterrupted electricity for emergency treatment, surgeries, and critical medical equipment. For doctors and patients, this means better care when every second matters. Warmers for newborns can operate, ultrasound machines are available when needed, and hospital wards remain lit and functional.
