Why do opportunities and economic outcomes vary so much across different parts of the UK? In this session from the concluding workshop of the IFS-Deaton Review of Inequalities, Xiaowei Xu examines geographical inequalities: differences in productivity, opportunity and outcomes across places, and why these inequalities are a major source of public concern. This event formed part of the concluding workshop for the IFS-Deaton Review of Inequalities, funded by the Nuffield Foundation. The review has brought together evidence on inequalities in education, income, wealth, health, place and political power, and what they mean for UK policy.
