World Cotton Day 2025
🌍✨ Today on #WorldCottonDay, we honour one of the world’s most important natural fibers. Cotton supports millions of farmers and families, offering a renewable alternative to synthetics.
Yet like many crops, cotton faces challenges. Hazardous chemicals are used in cultivation and textile processing. Persistent organic pollutants (#POPs) such as chlorpyrifos and endosulfan can pose risks for people and the planet.
🧵 Through the #StockholmConvention, countries are working together to phase out these dangerous substances, helping ensure that cotton’s future is not only natural, but also safe and sustainable.
Let’s weave a fabric of the future that’s clean, fair, and resilient. 🌱👩🏽🌾👕
