From Hours on Foot to Moments at Home: Juliana’s Water Story

For years, Juliana Opoku, a resident of Juaso, Ghana, walked long distances every day just to fetch water for her family. The journey was exhausting and time-consuming, taking her away from other tasks and limiting the time she could spend with her loved ones. Determined to make a change, she rallied her household to bring a water connection closer to home, a small step that promised a big difference. Today, thanks to the support of the One Foundation and WSUP’s initiatives, Juliana spends far less time fetching water. This new household connection has not only eased her daily burden but also transformed her family’s life, giving them more time, safety, and dignity. Juliana’s story is a powerful reminder of how access to safe water can empower individuals, strengthen families, and uplift entire communities.
