The tides | Middle school Earth and space science | Khan Academy
Earth’s tides are caused by the gravitational attraction of the Moon and Earth. This net force creates a tidal bulge that moves across Earth’s oceans, creating predictable cycles of low and high tide. Spring tides and neap tides are caused by particular configurations of the Earth-Sun-Moon system.
