When Women Thrive, We All Rise
This International Women’s Day 2026, we highlight a powerful truth emerging from evidence across the Global South: when women thrive, entire economies benefit.
Research shows that when women have access to decent work, childcare, land rights, education, climate-resilient tools, and safe mobility, the impact goes far beyond individual livelihoods. These gains are economic, structural, and generational.
In this short video, staff from the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) share insights from locally led research on women’s economic empowerment. Their reflections highlight how addressing structural barriers, such as unpaid care responsibilities, limited access to resources, and unequal opportunities, can significantly improve women’s participation in the labour force and strengthen economic systems.
PEP works with researchers across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to generate rigorous, policy-relevant evidence that helps governments design more inclusive economic policies.
Because better evidence leads to better policy—and better policy makes inclusive growth achievable.
When women thrive, economies transform.
