Behind the Scenes in Bangladesh with photographer Shefali Rafiq | Save the Children UK

Here is a behind the scenes film showcasing Kashmiri photographer Shefali Rafiq on commission in Bangladesh, recipient of the 2024 Save the Children x IPPG Commission.   In partnership with the Ian Parry Photojournalism award, the commission offers a fully funded opportunity for emerging photojournalists, including mentorship, travel and fees. Shefali’s winning project on menstrual health among nomadic women in South Kashmir stood out for its depth and sensitivity. Over nine months of mentorship, Shefali completed a 10 day commission in Bangladesh, documenting girls challenging child marriage and daycare centres supporting garment working mothers.   “I witnessed an incredible bond of friendship and a desire to help each other, a powerful reminder of what resilience and hope can achieve.” — Shefali
