On 27 January 2025, our rescue ship the Ocean Viking saved 92 people in distress off the coast of Malta. Among them was a seven year-old Syrian girl who went into cardiac arrest. After 45 gut-wrenching minutes of CPR, the team managed to rescucitate her, and she was medecaved to Malta along with her mother and sister. Her father was unable to go and remained on the boat. Sadly, she died on 28 January. This was devastating for everyone on board, and only strengthened our resolve to keep saving lives in the Mediterranean.
