Tax Progressivity and Review of Fiscal Incentives for Sustainable and Climate-resilient SP in LAC
This webinar examined how regressive and inefficient tax incentives can undermine public finances, weaken progressive tax systems and constrain resources needed for a just transition. Focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, it explored the intersection between tax progressivity and the review of regressive tax expenditures, highlighting how these measures can strengthen domestic resource mobilization and international tax cooperation to finance inclusive social protection systems and climate-related policies. The discussion also provided a forum for technical and policy dialogue, promoting knowledge exchange, regional coordination and fiscal reforms aimed at enhancing revenue generation, advancing social justice and supporting sustainable economic transitions within the framework of the PTLAC.
