This episode for the Arab Social Protection Compass webinar series examined how States in the Arab region can advance social protection systems grounded in rights and legal entitlements. Drawing on the joint OHCHR–ILO Factsheet, the discussion highlighted how international human rights and social security standards provide a practical framework for moving beyond ad hoc assistance towards systems that are universal, adequate, and anchored in law. By analyzing real-world policy reflections, this episode explored how a rights-based approach serves as the ultimate mechanism for designing and implementing systems that are inclusive and sustainable. The episode featured speakers from the Middle East Northern Africa region, bringing regional and national perspectives from policymakers, and practitioners and beneficiaries. The discussion aimed to bridge the gap between international human rights instruments and social security standards and country-level implementation in the region.
