UN Women: No Country Has Achieved Full Legal Equality for Women
Ahead of International Women’s Day, UN Women warned that no country has yet achieved full legal equality for women and girls, with women worldwide holding only 64 per cent of the legal rights of men. A new report by United Nations Secretary-General found that in more than half of countries rape is still not defined based on consent, while laws in nearly three-quarters of countries still allow child marriage and many states do not mandate equal pay for equal work.
