As part of COP4 of the Escazú Agreement, the FiTI organised an official side event: “Fisheries transparency in action: the FiTI Standard in Ecuador, a practical tool for implementing the Escazú Agreement in the fisheries sector.” This side event provided a forum to share Ecuador’s experience implementing the FiTI Standard, demonstrating how transparency translates into concrete improvements in fisheries governance. Through dialogue between government, civil society, and the small-scale fisheries sector, this event showed how the FiTI Standard contributes to putting the Escazú Agreement into practice, facilitating access to environmental information and strengthening participation in decision-making within the sector.
