Advocating for sanitation improvements in Ghana

World Health Day: The Story of the Seed, a WASH story from Ghana The Healthy Future for All project seeks to increase the number of children growing up in hygienic environments at home, in schools, and in health facilities across the Nandom and Lambussie districts in Ghana. The story of the seed educational video is a behavioural change communications tool developed for communities in Ghana, promoting positive hygiene attitudes and the adoption of handwashing with soap. The video tells the story of a health worker whose parents worked hard to instil hygienic habits as part of her childhood education. The educational video “The tale of the two brothers” is a behavioural change communications tool developed for communities in Ghana. It conveys the key message that households should consider investing in climate-resilient toilet facilities to achieve safer, healthier lives. The video tells the story of two brothers, each pursuing a different path in life. While one works hard, the other believes in living in the moment without a care for the future.  Behaviour change is rarely driven by information alone. It is shaped by social norms, aspirations, convenience, and trust. By featuring families, community members and frontline health workers, the videos reflect real decision-making contexts rather than idealised behaviours.
