Measuring volunteering during multiple global crises: #SWVR2026 Global Webinar Series #4
How can measurement keep pace with the complexity of the crises that volunteers navigate, and the contributions they make? The fourth webinar in the 2026 SWVR Global Webinar Series brought together researchers and practitioners to explore how different forms of measurement can reveal important insights into the nature of volunteering in crisis settings. Drawing on Chapter 6 of the 2026 State of the World’s Volunteerism Report, the session examined how volunteering evolves as crises unfold and intersect, and what challenges and opportunities this creates for measurement systems. Panelists discussed how measurement data can better reflect both how volunteers are affected by crises and how their contributions help reduce the impact of interconnected crises on their communities.
