Lukendo grew up in a refugee camp in Malawi after his family fled violence in their home country. He completed his education, from kindergarten to university, while living in the camp. After years of receiving support, he joined the United Nations as a volunteer to give back. Today, he helps ensure the experiences and perspectives of displaced people are reflected in reports and communications. His story shows that refugees bring skills, knowledge and lived experience that can help shape solutions for their communities and beyond.
