Your home could be powered by an electric car
In the evening, power grids are under strain as millions of people switch on lights, appliances and air conditioners.
Meanwhile, fully charged electric cars sit idle, holding power that the grid needs.
A new technology called everything-to-grid energy is addressing this gap. It can turn vehicles, buildings and factories into nodes in a flexible, intelligent network that shares power with wherever it’s most needed. Electric vehicle owners receive money, utility bill credits or reduced financing costs in return. In developing regions, the technology could allow fleets of e-bikes or even agricultural tools to act as back-up power sources for the whole community.
Everything-to-grid has been selected as one of the World Economic Forum’s Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2026.
