From crisis to coordination: IGAD’s regional platform for sustainable pest management

In 2020, the IGAD region faced serious threats to food security from desert locusts and other transboundary pests. In response, the Inter-Regional Platform for the Sustainable Management of Desert Locusts and Other Transboundary Pests brought together countries, partners, and communities to act collectively. Here is a look back at the progress made—from improved surveillance and rapid response to stronger regional coordination and local capacity. This video highlights the achievements and demonstrates how the IGAD region is now better prepared to address future pest threats.
