“Let our love protect them, not harm them.” Our children are a trust in our care — and it is our shared responsibility to protect them. Ending female genital mutilation (FGM) takes more than laws. It requires courage, awareness, and a collective shift in social norms. Across communities, survivors, fathers, and community leaders are speaking up to protect the next generation. Harmful practices have no place in the lives of girls and women. Every girl deserves to grow up safe, valued, and free from violence. On the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, UNFPA and UNICEF stand together to protect girls, challenge harmful norms, and #EndFGM.
