New research: Training frontline health care workers using smartphones

Training frontline health care workers using smartphones can help them respond faster and more effectively to disease outbreaks. Samantha Kozikott, a Technical Manager on our Prevent Epidemics team, co-authored a study in BMJ Global Health demonstrating how self-paced mobile trainings on infectious diseases can help frontline workers detect and report cases, protect themselves, and treat patients. The study provides evidence that the trainings produce statistically significant improvements in knowledge and can be used during an outbreak, reaching workers faster than traditional in-person trainings.
