50 years ago today, a group of people who believed change is possible 💪🏻 founded Oxfam Hong Kong. For half century, we’ve walked alongside you through countless moments. Thank you for being with us every step of the way! 🤝 🟢 From our founding, we have been committed to deepen Hong Kong people’s understanding of famine and inequality, and to support people affected by hunger. 🟢 In 1992, Oxfam set up the “Oxfam China Development Fund” to support poverty alleviation and emergency relief work in Chinese mainland. 🟢 In 1995, Oxfam released the first “Poverty Report,” examine Hong Kong’s poverty issue from a research perspective. 🟢 In 2002, Oxfam launched the “Make Trade Fair” campaign, introducing the concept of fair trade into everyday life in Hong Kong. 🟢 In 2016, as OHK marked its 40th anniversary, we said one thing loud: “Inequality Breeds Poverty.” Today, Oxfam Hong Kong turns 50!!! 🎂🥳 It’s also the pledge we’ve shared with you to stand against poverty and injustice for half a century.
