The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is the most common turtle in the Mediterranean Sea, travelling thousands of kilometres to return to the very same nesting beaches where they were born. These ancient ocean voyagers use their strong jaws to crush crabs and clams, and their powerful flippers to propel them through the waves. But life here is full of challenges: plastic pollution, overfishing, coastal erosion, and warming seas make the Mediterranean one of the worldβs climate change hotspots.
This resource is part of THE HERDSβ dynamic education programme, designed to connect young minds with the wonders of nature and the urgent need for climate action. Covering six diverse habitats, this interactive learning experience takes students on a journey through the worldβs ecosystems β exploring the wildlife, challenges, and conservation efforts shaping our planet.
THE HERDS is the 20,000km journey of life-size puppet animals from the Congo Basin to the Arctic Circle. It is created by The Walk Productions, the international team behind "Little Amal," the 12-foot-tall puppet of a refugee child who has journeyed through 17 countries.
