From 18–21 August 2025, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Thailand and the AHA Centre, with support from the ASEAN–Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), co-organised the Training for ASEAN Standards and Certification for Experts in Disaster Management (ASCEND) Competency Assessors Batch 3 in Bangkok, Thailand. The training brought together 29 participants from National Disaster Management Organisations (NDMOs), partner organisations, and NGOs, including 20 ASCEND certificate holders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to serve as competency assessors under the ASCEND programme. The ASCEND Programme sets a regional standard for disaster management professionals in ASEAN. By strengthening capacities across the region, ASCEND helps build a stronger and more disaster-resilient ASEAN community.
