Through strategic cooperation, Korea has actively supported ASEAN in disaster management, including through building regional capacity. One of the key flagship initiatives supported by Korea, through the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), is the ASEAN Standards and Certification for Experts in Disaster Management (ASCEND). This programme aims to develop a pool of certified disaster management professionals across ASEAN, promoting interoperability, mutual recognition, and effective cross-border response. Following the successful implementation of ASCEND Phase I, the AHA Centre, with the continued support from the Republic of Korea, proudly launches ASCEND Phase II.
