Transparency International and Transparency International EU have worked closely with our chapters in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain to drive a shared goal: strengthening the EU’s ability to detect, prevent and respond to cross‑border corruption. Through the Strengthened enforcement capacities of public authorities project (STEP EU for short), we set out to: 🔹 Improve understanding of available data and uncover gaps that hinder the prevention and early detection of corruption and financial crime. 🔹 Strengthen the capacity of EU member states to detect, investigate and prosecute cross‑border corruption. 🔹 Enhance cooperation between competent authorities to support a more coordinated, EU‑wide response to corruption.
