Seeds, Skills and Hope: A Farmer's Story from Beledweyne

"My field used to produce one or two bags. Now it produces three or four." Nimco Daud Mahad, a farmer from Hoodley village in Beledweyne, Somalia, shares how access to improved seeds and agricultural training helped her family increase crop production and improve their livelihood. Before receiving support, farmers relied on traditional farming methods and had limited access to quality seeds. Through training on land preparation, planting techniques, and crop management, farmers gained new knowledge that helped them achieve better yields. Today, Nimco's family produces more food for household consumption and generates additional income by selling surplus produce in the market. This video highlights how agricultural support can strengthen food security, increase household income, and build resilience among farming communities in Somalia. 📍 Hoodley Village, Beledweyne District, Somalia Implemented by Oxfam Funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) #Somalia #Beledweyne #Oxfam #AICS #FoodSecurity #Agriculture #Farmers #Resilience #Livelihoods #Seeds
