My family Didn't Have to Migrate - Story about Farming and Hope in Sanag region
This is an integrated multi-sectoral response. Amid delivering WASH, Protection, and flexible crisis modifier assistance to respond timely and effectively against sudden spikes in crises.
The principal objective of the project is to Contribute to reducing acute humanitarian needs and increase the dignity of the most vulnerable populations affected by conflict, natural disasters, and or displacement, including those in hard-to-reach and highly food-insecure areas in Somalia and Somaliland.
During this reporting period, the project supported 2,240 HHs (15,304 individuals) with various EFSVL activities . The distribution of agricultural inputs and tools successfully targeted 30 households (HHs) in drought-affected communities (Baalade-Bosaso district, Puntland ). Community sensitization and targeting of drought resistant crop seeds (White Maize and Sorghum) were done in Sool region, Somaliland , reaching a total of 325 HH (1,950 people ) and were provided seed and tillage hours.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Agricultural and local governments, all farmers have been encouraged to benefit from this Gu season and start cropping. The project participants started site clearing and preparation for planting in their respective farmlands. In addition, under the cash transfer intervention, the food security sector has maintained dignity and saved lives through conditional cash transfer (cash-for-work (CfW)) assistance. A total of 180 households (1,080 individuals) were reached in two sites of Sanaag region, Somaliland, receiving first round of cash transfer, which was 10 days of work with a rate of 7 USD per day per household.
